How Do You Process?

Unstuck JOY! – February 20, 2018

Join me and my guest, Leah Guy, who is an intuitive healer, spiritual teacher, inspirational speaker, artist and author of the new book, The Fearless Path; A Radical Awakening to Emotional Healing and Inner Peace. Leah uses her personal triumphs over rape, addiction, anxiety and eating disorders, as well as her down-to-earth, honest and often humorous approach, to help you transform trauma and pain into peace and wholeness! This show’s Art Vision prompt is How Do You Process? Let’s use the power of art vision journaling to connect to our Soul and reclaim our Unstuck JOY!

Here’s where the LIVE Art Vision prompt ended up!

Memoir Artwork of the Day: Body Electric

Body Electric

I’ve been experimenting with body printing by using paint on my own body and transferring the image to canvas. Body Electric is the first body print I’ve painted.

My hope is to use the body prints as cards in my upcoming oracle deck and mix/match them with my memoir portrait paintings on oracle cards. Each painting has its own message and can be used to gain layered insight.

This is definitely a new process that I’ve never tried before. I’m having fun discovering new possibilities along the journey!

Art Vision Journal Prompt of the Day: How do You Process?

My healing process

In Leah Guy’s book, The Fearless Path; A Radical Awakening to Emotional Healing and Inner Peace, she states that letting go or detaching from painful experiences will  hinder true emotional healing.

I tend to use art and writing as ways to work through dark, sad or hurtful experiences.

This Art Vision page shows a darker version of my body print that I collaged onto my Art Vision journal. It symbolizes being in emotional pain. However, I’m always connected to my Soul, even when I can’t feel that connection. Painting and writing are ways that help me work through that darkness and hurt and arrive at peace, renewed joy, and deep connection with my True Self. I used colored markers to express this via color and symbols.

Now it’s your turn!
  • Read the Art Visioning process below.
  • Contemplate the Art Visioning prompt below.
  • Allow the Universe to intuitively reveal to you how you can express your thoughts/discoveries via collaging, drawing, doodling, writing and/or painting.
  • Remember – there are NO mistakes in Art Vision journaling! Let your creative juices flow freely! Tell your Inner Critic to sit quietly in the corner.

Memoir Artwork of the Day: current mood

Current Mood

I’m in a Sacred Selfies online class that focuses on the power of purposeful selfies that mirror our true essence.

I took this photo after my dad’s funeral and combined it with a small watercolor painting on paper. I love how it captures my mood of sadness and rawness at that point in time.

Art Vision Journal Prompt of the Day: I Am the One Who…

My SoulCollage cards

I created these SoulCollage cards in various workshops. It’s amazing how intuitively selecting magazine images and putting them together can truly capture an aspect of my personal journey and Soul at a snapshot in time.

At the end of the workshop, we end with the statement, “I Am the One Who…” based on our interpretation of the images we chose for each card.

During one of Kym’s SoulCollage workshops at the Women of Wisdom Conference, I stated, “I am the one who says yes to life, believes the world is colorful and loving, I allow my curiosity to let my soul fly free, I live life on my terms.”

It’s a powerful creative process!

Now it’s your turn!

Intuitively select magazine photos that resonate with you.

Glue them with a glue stick onto a 5″ x 8″ SoulCollage card or into your journal.

Study your images and write your interpretation of the card – “I Am the One Who….” How do the images represent your current personal journey, your Soul’s voice, your personality?

What’s Your Sigil?

Unstuck JOY! – March 6, 2018

Join me and my guest Joanne Chen, who is a Transformational Life Coach. Joanne helps professional women let go of perfection to serve the world more powerfully and live more fulfilling lives. An Asian American immigrant not quite fitting into the model minority role, Joanne broke out of her conventional background to create her own unique path. Joanne will give tips on how to slow down, quiet your critical mind, and access your intuitive, creative self! This show’s Art Vision prompt is What’s Your Sigil? Let’s create our 2018 intentions via an arty, magical symbol!

Here’s where the LIVE Art Vision prompt ended up!

Memoir Artwork of the Day: And Now What?

And Now What

I began this painting on January 1, 2013, as a new New Year’s Day tradition: paint on the first day of each year to set my intention of putting my art first!

What are YOUR intentions for 2018? Do you need to create new traditions or rituals to symbolize your juicy intentions coming to fruition?

Art Vision Journal Prompt of the Day: What’s Your Sigil?

My sigil legend
My 2018 sigil

A friend introduced me to the idea of creating a sigil for 2018. The definition of a sigil is “an inscribed or painted symbol considered to have magical power.”

I chose 10 things I want to concentrate on in 2018 to help me move toward my goals of putting my art first, writing monologues that correlate with my memoir portraits and performing them at open mic nights (a step toward creating a stage play), and creating my own oracle deck and book using my art and monologues. Then I put the 10 symbols together into a cohesive sigil symbol. I love how it looks like an ancient cave drawing or hieroglyphics in color!

Tell your Inner Critic to sit quietly in the corner.
art visioning prompt: What’s Your Sigil?
My 2018 sigil

What intentions and corresponding symbols can you create to represent YOUR powerful, magical sigil for 2018?

I recommend using 10 or fewer symbols.

Be creative in the symbols and colors you use for each intention. Use black and white if you wish instead of color!

Play around with different ways to put your symbols together into a sigil. My final sigil was the fourth design, so have fun experimenting!

ART VISIONING PROCESS
  1. Connect with your Higher Self/Source Energy through meditation, yoga, walking in nature, listening to music, etc. to achieve an open/receptive mind/heart.
  2. Contemplate the Art Visioning prompt of What’s Your Sigil.
  3. With the prompt in mind, ask the Universe the following questions. Respond to each question or gravitate to the one(s) that most resonate with you.

  • What do I need to say yes to/allow to manifest the best good in this area?
  • Who do I need to be in this area of my life?
  • What is an inspired next step I can take to grow/evolve into my True Self in this area?
  • How can I use my gifts/super powers to enhance this part of my life?

Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Unstuck JOY! – December 19, 2017

Join me and my guest, Susan Sinclair, who is a modern mystic, Usui and Imara Reiki Master, Soul Reader, Sound Healer, Akashic Adventurer and unabashed devotee of the Radiant Dark. Susan will teach us how the misperception of Light and Dark as good and evil has caused an imbalance in our chakra energy systems, the real connection between Light and Dark, how they relate to the Yin/Yang, and reveal how to heal your soul and our world by restoring your own inner Radiant Dark! This show’s Art Vision prompt is Are You Afraid of the Dark? based on characteristics of the yin and yang. Let’s nurture your Radiant Dark via Art Vision journaling!

Memoir Artworks of the Day: Language of Zelda & Twyla

Language of Zelda

To me, Language of Zelda represents my Yin – going “Yin-ward” into my Radiant Dark, being (instead of constantly doing), so I can perceive my soul’s spiritual signals.

Twyla

Twyla represents my Yang – the electrical, looking outward, doing part of me that represents my active Light.

I tend to have more Yang, so I’m working toward balancing my Radiant Dark and Light aspects, so my Yin-ward soul’s whispers can more effectively direct my Yang actions.

Art Vision Journal Prompt of the Day: Are you Afraid of the Dark?

Yin & Yang

I used oil pastels to create my Yin and Yang aspects. It seemed natural to draw a Picasso-esque double face! 🙂

The Yin is represented by Radiant Dark elements of moon and stars, spirals, darker colors of blue, purple and black – a fertile ground for my soul’s whispered signals to come through!

The Yang is represented by electric sunshine, flowers actively growing and blooming, and bright colors of orange, yellow, pink and spring green!

Now it’s your turn!

Yang: electrical, active, doing, outward, light

I Am Enough!

Unstuck JOY! – December 5, 2017

Join me and my guest, Laurie McCammon, author of Enough! How to Liberate Yourself and Remake the World with Just One Word. Ever wonder about the connection between not feeling you are enough and a world where it seems scarcity, competition and fear of not having enough is a cultural given? Laurie’s book and workshops explore the root cause of the collective myth of scarcity and never-enoughness, and how we can shift it right now – from within. This show’s Art Vision prompt is I Am Enough! based on concepts from Laurie’s book. Let’s proclaim that using our gifts and living from our hearts (and not our heads) is more than enough to connect with our self-worth, harmonious relationships, abundance, and create a better world.

Watch as Vicki creates an Art Vision journal page LIVE during the show!

The Honesty of Claud is a work in progress, and I’m not sure yet how I’ll finish her. Yet, I’m enjoying the journey of creating her. This is how it is with us when we feel we’re enough. Each one of us is a work in progress with our own unique limiting beliefs, successes, gifts and life path. We can’t see the end result or know the exact “how” that will lead us to fulfilling our dreams. Yet, when we trust our hearts to lead us to joy, harmonious connection with others, and the belief that the world is an abundant place with enough for all, the Universe will supply the open doors and resources that help us to transform ourselves and the world.

Art Vision Journal Prompt of the Day: I am enough!

I Am Enough

I used collage and created a word mind-map with colored markers to remind myself of the concepts that I need to live based on Laurie McCammon’s book, Enough! How to Liberate Yourself and Remake the World with Just One Word.

Instead of looking outwards to find validation that I’m enough, I can look within to access:

*my gifts

*feminine energy that seeks inspiration and flow with the Universe

*love and connection instead of fear and separation

*my sovereignty by taking responsibility for my own self-care and self-love

Select magazine photos, words, quotes, etc. that symbolize your Enoughness. What can you create to remind you to live from a place of love, abundance, harmonious connection with others and the Universe (even if that means setting boundaries around toxic relationships), flow, inspired action, joy along your journey, sharing your gifts and talents with the world, self-acceptance, willingness to evolve toward your True Self?

Create a beautiful reminder that you are exactly where you need to be on your life path. You are a beautiful work in progress. You are enough!

Are You of ONE Mind?

Unstuck JOY! – November 21, 2017

Join host Vicki Todd and her guest, David Essel, author of Positive Thinking Will Never Change Your Life But This Book Will! The Myth of Positive Thinking, The Reality of Success. David is a master life coach and international speaker who believes few will ever find success from “wishful thinking or fantastical affirmations.” David’s mission is to end the myth of positive thinking by sharing how 365 days of doing the work you’d rather not do, in the area of life you’re struggling with is the only way to turn your subconscious mind around! This show’s Art Vision prompt is Are You of ONE Mind? Vicki uses the concepts from David’s book – positive thinking techniques + daily actions outside of your comfort zone = changing your subconscious mind to help you fulfill your dreams. Let’s celebrate YOUR conscious and subconscious minds gelling via Art Vision journaling!

Memoir Artwork of the Day: Black Sheep Evolution

Black Sheep Evolution Vicki Todd
Black Sheep Evolution

I painted Black Sheep Evolution in January 2015 when I knew I needed to resign from my 12-year, tenured professor position to take a blind leap of faith toward following my life’s Purpose. I was scared to death and unsure of what this new future would look like, but I knew I had to take the leap or my Soul would shrivel within me and die. My subconscious ego was telling me I’d fail and to stay safe in my steady job. My conscious mind, where my dreams live, urged me to trust that the Universe would catch me when I made the jump. I used the power of prayer and my intuition (positive thinking techniques) along with the very scary action of resigning with no safety net plan in place (action outside my comfort zone) to move toward syncing my subconscious and conscious minds. It was the best decision I’ve ever made! I’m still following my intuition, doing daily meditation and positive “I am” statements combined with inspired action steps outside of my comfort zone to expand my dreams of being a best-selling author (about to publish my second book!), dynamic radio host (love talking to guests like David Essel!) and impactful art workshop teacher (creating new art workshops for 2018)! What action steps can YOU take today to move closer toward your dreams and goals?

Art Vision Journal Prompt of the Day: Are you of One Mind?

Are You of ONE Mind?

I used concepts from David Essel’s book, Positive Thinking Will Never Change Your Life But This Book Will! and acrylic paint to create my Art Vision page! The image in the lower righthand corner is my painting, Belly of the Whale, symbolizing when I was afraid to move forward but knew I must (subconscious limiting beliefs). The larger image is my conscious mind reminding me of the daily actions I can take to realize my dreams/goals.

I need to take the following actions:
– be more dedicated to my daily meditation practice to hear inspired action steps
– speak or write daily “I am” statements
– focus daily prayer time
– keep taking actions that are uncomfortable to move toward my goals. For example, I just submitted a query to a literary agent in NYC that specializes in inspirational memoir for my book, Unstuck. That was scary! And, I’m continuing the work on my second book with the hope of sending to my publisher by end of 2017 – editing/proofing is the grunt work, but it must be done to progress!

Now it’s your turn!
  • Read the Art Visioning process below.

art visioning prompt: Are you of one mind?
Are You of ONE Mind?

David Essel urges that we must face our current reality in order to move forward, and not allow positive thinking to mask our current situation.

Where are you currently in an area that you’d like to see improvement in? Are there limiting beliefs you need to adjust? How can you use the positive thinking techniques of visualization, positive affirmations, and prayer to place yourself in a positive environment? What is the next right mini-step you can take toward your goals even if it’s outside of your comfort zone? Do you need to meditate daily to become more connected to your Higher Self? Is there a workshop you can attend, online class you can take, mentor you need to meet to help you take action toward your dreams? Is there a toxic relationship that’s holding you back that you need to set boundaries around so you can move forward in a positive manner? How can you express this through paint, markers, Crayons, collage, words, etc.?

Where Is YOUR Focus?

Unstuck JOY! – November 7, 2017

Join host Vicki Todd and her guest, Mary Shores, author of Conscious Communications: Your Step-by-Step Guide to Harnessing the Power of Your Words to Change Your Mind, Your Choices, and Your Life. This Hay House book draws on Mary’s 10+ years of personal development experience and knowledge to create easy-to-follow, step-by-step practices that can transform each area of your life! This show’s Art Vision prompt is Where Is YOUR Focus? Vicki uses the concepts from Mary’s book – what you focus on + your story/beliefs + your emotional garden = actions you take toward realizing your dreams. Let’s celebrate YOUR Focus Garden via Art Vision journaling!

Watch as Vicki creates an Art Vision journal page LIVE during the show!

No Regrets Vicki Todd
No Regrets

Are you focusing on the next right step toward your dream goals? Or, are you playing small by believing your dreams are out of reach? Your internal self-talk and the words you speak aloud create the focus of the actions you take that lead you toward or away from living as your True Self and fulfilling your life Purpose. What story are you telling yourself?

Focus Garden

According to Mary Shores’ book, Conscious Communications, these are some of the elements that determine whether or not you’re taking  actions toward or away from your dreams and life Purpose:

  • what you focus on grows
  • the story you tell yourself, your beliefs of what’s possible, what follows your “I am…” statements
  • your emotional environment – are you living mostly in a state of love, gratitude and joy?

What seeds are you planting in your Focus Garden? Are there limiting beliefs you need to prune? What is the next right mini-step you can take toward your goals? How can you express this through paint, collage, words, etc.?

Unstuck JOY! goes to Frankfurt Book Fair!

Unstuck JOY! – October 17, 2017

Join host Vicki Todd as she shares her Unstuck JOY! adventure at the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany! Vicki’s visual memoir, Unstuck: One Heroine’s Journey of Art and the Courage to Live on Purpose, was invited to display at the LitFire Publishing booth during the Frankfurt Book Fair. Watch as Vicki documents her journey via Facebook Live videos as she says YES to her dreams, listens to her intuition, and follows her curiosity along the breadcrumb trail the Universe provides for her. This show’s Art Vision prompt is How Does Your Lotus Flower Bloom? A lotus flower’s roots are deep in the mud and muck, yet the flower rises above toward the light. Let’s celebrate as we rise up out of the muck of fear and doubt toward the light and abundance of our dreams with Art Vision journaling!

Memoir Artwork of the Day: Vicki’s angel wings

painting angel wings w/ Whitney Freya

Vicki took a fabulous art class with Oregon artist Whitney Freya! Underneath the angel wings, everyone in the workshop painted words representing their dreams and intentions, along with symbols for abundance, courage, and love. (See photo below.) Then participants painted their unique angel wings using their favorite colors. Vicki loves her wings! She’s using their symbolism to guide her as she follows her dreams at the Frankfurt Book Fair and beyond!

Lotus flower

The lotus flower is the symbol of abundance and enlightenment. It grows out of the muck and mud toward the light. The muck and mud represent your doubts, fears and limiting beliefs. Yes, these are negative things we hope to leave behind, but they are also elements that help fertilize your dreams. Think about the powerful lessons your doubts and fears have taught you. How can you use those lessons to make you stronger and more aware on your True Self path? How can you grow from those insights as you bloom into your beautiful, enlightened True Self!

ART VISIONING PROCESS
  1. Connect with your Higher Self/Source Energy through meditation, yoga, walking in nature, listening to music, etc. to achieve an open/receptive mind/heart.
  2. Contemplate the Art Visioning prompt of How Does Your Lotus Flower Bloom.

Memoir artwork of the day: Language of Zelda

Language of Zelda

While taking Geraldine’s Chakra Awakening class, Vicki was inspired to paint Language of Zelda after dancing the Root Chakra, which is ruby red. The dance included a visualization of being a seed in the ground and rising up out of the dirt into the light. Zelda represents Vicki’s Root Chakra seed awakening.
